Please introduce yourself, where you're from, and tell me about yourself?
My name is Astin. I'm from Denver and I am a guitarist. I started playing guitar at 13 and fell in love quickly. When I started learning about music theory, I quickly fell in love again. Songwriting soon became my ambition. Storytelling and music are linked for me and I want to share that with the world.
Who introduced you to Music?
The first artist that really opened my eyes to what music could be was Buckethead. I didn't really have a musical taste before listening to him. Listening to his music opened my eyes as to what a strong melody and technical proficiency could do. I wanted to emulate how he saw music and what he could do with it.
What keeps you motivated?
My family and friends encourage me a lot. After posting a few tracks and trying to gain a presence on social media, I've gotten a little bit of traction. The fact that I can post something and gain a little bit of notoriety at a time keeps me going.
Do you have a moment that stands out to you as the moment you knew you were meant to be a musician?
When I finished my first big project at 18, I felt a sense of accomplishment that I'd never felt before. I knew it was something I had to pursue.
Why Music?
Nothing else really had that spark for me. I tried film when I was younger and I just never had the same excitement about it. The most excited I got was when I was making the soundtrack for it.
