03/14/23 - Way to drunk for this... #Tourlife

Updated: Mar 19

Today has been a rollercoaster of emotions for my band, The Purple People Eaters. It was supposed to be our first show on our first ever tour, but everything that could go wrong, did.

First, the van broke down on the way to the venue. We were stranded on the side of the road for hours, trying to figure out what was wrong and how we were going to make it to the show on time. It was stressful, but we managed to get the van running again and arrived at the venue just in time for our set.

But when we got there, we discovered that the promoter was blackout drunk. He stumbled around, slurring his words, and barely able to stand. It was clear that he was in no shape to be running a show, let alone promoting one.

Despite all of this, we decided to play the show anyway. We had come all this way, and we weren't going to let a broken down van and a drunk promoter stop us from performing.

And you know what? It was one of the best shows we've ever played. The audience was small, but they were enthusiastic and supportive. We played our hearts out, and even managed to sell a few t-shirts and CDs.

In the end, it wasn't the tour kickoff that we had hoped for, but it was a memorable and meaningful experience nonetheless. We proved to ourselves that we can overcome obstacles and make the best of a bad situation. And who knows, maybe we'll look back on this show one day as the moment when we truly began our journey as a band.

Until next time,

The Purple People Eaters
